







Brand identity and website design for NM Jansson Studio, a research-led architectural design and consultancy practice based in London and Newcastle upon Tyne, led by Niki-Marie Jansson. The studio places a strong emphasis on ethical, materially conscious approaches to contemporary architectural practice.
Our challenge was to create a brand with a design sensibility that matched the studio’s principles—holistic, innovative design with a particular focus on the use of traditional materials. Central to the studio’s philosophy is a process-driven, collaboration-oriented approach that uses interdisciplinary design to achieve the best results for their clients. We aimed to emphasise this ethos in the visual language, ensuring it reflected the studio’s methodical and thoughtful approach to their work.
Art direction and photography were key in setting the tone for the brand. Editorial in style, we utilised word maps, notes, drawings, and over-the-shoulder studio shots to emphasise the studio’s meticulous process. Functional, considered layout design formed the foundation of the branding system. Guided by the studio’s relationship with stone, we incorporated natural colours and material textures into the communication layouts. The wordmark itself is minimalist and functional, with wide kerning that evokes the aesthetics of stone carvings.
The result is a cohesive brand identity that spans multiple touch-points in both digital and print, delivering a consistent tone and feel while promoting the studio’s unique services.
